All About The Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is the modern standard in digital photography. Now, even amateur photographers can very well produce outputs that can be appropriately compared to those taken by professionals. The Adobe Photoshop is a post-production imaging tool that would surely help do the trick.

In 1987, brothers John and Thomas Knoll developed a special software for post-processing of pictures. After that, the inventors realized that there is a striking potential of their developed computer program. To underpin the opportunity the Knoll brothers established a company known as Adobe Systems, which launched the initial version of Adobe Photoshop in 1990.

After that, as you know, what transpired next was history. At least every other year since its launch, Adobe Systems is continuously modifying its own popular product. Thus, there are now several versions of the Adobe Photoshop, each version trying to outpace the preceding version. Consumers and users are benefiting because their choices of the software is ever expanding.

Initially, the Adobe Photoshop was meant to help image editing for the purpose of paper-based printing. In the past, you have seen how printing of pictures can be altered and enhanced using the software. But through the years, that main function has also been modified. With the increasing demand for image editing for Web sites, Adobe Photoshop has expanded into digital imaging for Web posting.

Online uses

Now you can see that almost all popular and widely visited online sites are using pictures that are perfectly enhanced by Adobe Photoshop. Online users are very appreciative about edited images, and are highly critical of pictures that did not pass the software. Currently, images that never run through the Adobe Photoshop are considered ineffective.

Of course, in almost every picture, digital enhancements must be done. A simple portrait of a woman, for example, needs to be processed using Adobe Photoshop to crop and edit out several imperfections like unlikely hair strands, noticeable facial flaws and non-attractive hues.

In some photographs, even the presence of excess fats captured in the picture should be cropped out. The Adobe Photoshop runs specific features to make that possible. Thus, images are truly made picture-perfect.

Versions

Manipulation of digital images is truly made effective, convenient and possible by the use of the software. Now, Adobe Photoshop, whatever version, is considered a must in every personal computer. Even if you are not a photographer or a publisher, you may occasionally or regularly need using the software for whatever image processing you may need.

Adobe Systems have also made sure every user will be covered. You may be surprised that latest Adobe Photoshop versions are compatible with almost every computer program and applications used. Thus, you would always get access to the software.

Purchasing Adobe Photoshop versions would also not be a hassle. You could easily buy a copy of the software online. It would only take a few seconds or minutes before you could install your own copy of the program.

There are also several free versions of Adobe Photoshop. Though, you practically should expect minor flaws or limited features. If you aim to get a copy that has all the complicated and highly technical features, you should download premium versions of the software. That would be a good investment because you surely would not run out of uses for the Adobe Photoshop.

Knowing More About The Adobe Photoshop

In 1987, brothers John and Thomas Knoll started developing a computer program that would focus mainly on imaging and photography using the computer. Little did the brothers knew by that time that they would come to develop one of the computer world’s most sought after software—the Adobe Photoshop.

When the program was initially developed, the Knolls established a firm called the Adobe Systems. The history of the company is equally interesting as the Photoshop itself. You might be wondering where the name Adobe was derived.

The word is obviously not a family name of the company’s founders, but is a name of a creek located at the back of the house of the Knolls. There must be something special about that creek, perhaps good photographic scenery that helped the brothers take inspiration in developing the Photoshop.

The first version of the Adobe Photoshop was released in 1990. Since then, many modifications have been made. Now, Adobe Photoshop is the market pioneer and leader in image manipulation using the computer. The software is very great help to newspaper layout people and photographers, who strive to create good packaging of content products.

The Adobe Photoshop has become an industry standard when it comes to tasks involving visual elements. The program combines the genuine beauty of real pictures with the original and awesome creative features modern computer technology has to offer.

Photoshop’s impact to the industry

Because everything is turning digital in the computer age, Photoshop is considered one of the most basic software any corporate firm must invest in. Digital image manipulation is the thing of the modern times. That is why the popularity of Photoshop is truly rapidly rising.

Now, photographers and even aspiring photographers are in equal footing when it comes to image manipulation. Imaging tasks that used to be done by professionals over about two to three days, would certainly be accomplished using the Photoshop for just a couple of hours, if not minutes.

Now, no photographic image would be good without passing the digital process manipulation under Photoshop. In every photograph, there is always a bit of flaw, and it is the job of Adobe Photoshop to help photography editors to modify and conceal those irritating little flows.

The Creative Suite

The most commonly used versions of the Adobe Photoshop are the Adobe versions 3 to 7. But if you encounter Adobe Photoshop CS versions, do not fret. These software are actually the more modern versions, or modifications, of the same old reliable Photoshop.

Of course, as time went on, many features of the Photoshop had to be adjusted and made better to cope up with users’ ever expanding and demanding requirements. The Adobe Photoshop CS is the customized software for those demands.

Adobe has rebranded its modern Photoshop products with the CS brand so that users and software buyers would easily identify which products carry Adobe’s most excellent and latest features. There is not much difference though.

However, it is an accepted fact that like the advanced Photoshop versions in the past, Adobe Photoshop CS products are expensively priced. But the company is now coming up with sub-versions that do not completely offer all the usual features of the Adobe CS Photoshop. These sub-versions are usually less priced.

If you are into photography or computer layouting, be sure to get your own copy of the Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop CS software.

Adobe Photoshop: Changing The World

“To see is to believe” is what most people say. However, this old adage, like so many others, has been negated by technology. Today, with Adobe Photoshop, you can create any image you want and share it to other people. This way, Adobe Photoshop is changing the whole world’s perspective on reality.

For those who do not know, Adobe Photoshop is a program designed to let people edit various images on their computers. Its primary purpose is to let people perform touch ups on pictures before printing them. Of course, each succeeding version of Adobe Photoshop included more and more tools which let people add effects and do various other things to their photographs. The Adobe Photoshop of today actually allows people to add sound and animation to their photographs for sharing on the internet.

In the past, people who took bad pictures were stuck with them. A lot of things can go wrong in a picture. There’s the usual red-eye, skewed angles, shaky focus and others. Adobe Photoshop was the tool that made all of these things disappear. With Adobe Photoshop, people can take pictures like amateurs and still produce images like pros!

However, Adobe Photoshop today has gone beyond image editing. Today, the software is labeled as an image manipulation tool. This somehow gives people the impression that Adobe Photoshop actually gives them a greater degree of freedom than other image-editing programs available today. In fact, it actually does.

If sight is reality, then Adobe Photoshop can help you create any reality that you want. With Adobe Photoshop, you will be able to create images of other worlds. You will be able to capture the beauty of the universe inside a glass jar. Your creativity will be unleashed. That’s how much Adobe Photoshop can change your life.

In the world today, one can easily observe the impact that Adobe Photoshop has wrought on culture. Just like Google, Adobe Photoshop is now being used by people as a verb. When a person is said to be photoshopping something, it is always assumed that the person is editing an image of come sort, whether he or she is actually using Adobe Photoshop or not.

Adobe Photoshop has also led to a whole new level of art and animation. Did you know that tablets were developed specifically with Adobe Photoshop in mind? Artists of today have gone beyond using paints and a canvas. Today’s painters make use of tablet sensors and Adobe Photoshop to produce their masterpieces. With the technology of Adobe Photoshop, people are able to take the art of drawing, add a bit of computer technology, and come up with a whole new genre of animation.

In the past, images had to be saved as specific file types in order to be usable for Adobe Photoshop. However, because of the proliferation of digital cameras and camera phones today, Adobe Photoshop can actually import the photographs directly from the sources. This means that the gap between taking the picture and sharing it is reduced.

Adobe Photoshop might just be a tool for some people. However, you should know that tools, when used by enough people can change history. In this age where everything is defined by computers, Adobe Photoshop is just another tool which, in the right hands, can change the world.

Video Tutorials ? a Fast and Efficient Way to Learn Adobe Photoshop

What are the advantages and disadvantages of learning about multimedia software applications with the help of video based training?

Let us start with the advantages. First of all, there is no time constraint, because self study video tutorials can be used at any time you want, in the privacy of your home or elsewhere, they allow accessible learning. You do not have to interrupt any of your activities just to get to class in time. Unlike the traditional way of studying, which is the class format – such as at school or university – video tutorials are available with no time or place limitations. Secondly, unlike teaching yourself by reading a thick textbook, which can be quite confusing at times, you have the opportunity to watch other people perform tasks and put them into practice yourself. Moreover, learning with video tutorials is very time-efficient, and we all know the famous English saying ‘Time is money’. Some people need to improve their technical skills and standards in a timely manner, and what better way to do so than by using the affordable, efficient and fast option that e-learning provides?

As far as the disadvantages of virtual training as far as video tutorials are concerned is the only notable fact that you cannot ask extra questions about a problem or an aspect that you are still not familiar with, which you would be able to do if you were in class, following the presentation of an instructor . However, video tutorials are developed by specialists in the field, and the chances that they may have omitted an important aspect or an answer to your possible questions are very slim. When you feel that you are not completely clear about something, all you have to do is play the tutorials again and look carefully for your answer, which has to be there somewhere.

When you need to learn Adobe Photoshop, or any of the Adobe products really fast, video tutorials are the answer. There are many learning formats available and many virtual training company specialists, but once again video training has turned out to be the best acquisition.

The Adobe Photoshop training videos address beginners and expert users alike. Each of these training videos provides you with timesaving techniques and step-by-step training, which will definitely be useful for graphic designers and video artists who want to use Adobe Photoshop efficiently. Not only do these videos provide Photoshop training, but they also come with inspirational ideas for professional style graphics.

The Adobe Photoshop training videos guide you through each design, from the very first blank canvas all the way to the work of art that you can create. The videos may contain image files so that you can work along with the instructor as you are being taught timesaving and creative techniques. These techniques include adjustment layers, layer sets, alpha channel masking, brush and text techniques, gradient overlay, shearing, and many more.

All in all, it is safe to say that video tutorials in general and Adobe Photoshop training videos in particular are a good combination of minimum effort and maximum impact, as well as a very good choice for those who wish to learn these multimedia applications in a fast and effective manner.

Tutorials For Adobe Photoshop

Here are six simple and very important tools you need to know and have to learn before you master photoshop. Starting with the Brush Tool, Pencil Tool, Eraser Tool, Paint Bucket Tool, Gradient Tool, Text Tool each tool has it’s own part to play in photoshop

The Brush Tool (B) is suitable for softedged painting or drawing. Draw strokes by clicking and dragging the mouse over the canvas. You can change the brush size and other settings in the options bar at the top of the window.

The Pencil Tool (B) is suitable for hard-edged drawing or painting and has similar options to the Brush Tool for setting its size, opacity, and more. The Pencil Tool is often used for drawing on, and editing individual pixels in, zoomed-in images.

The Eraser Tool (E) removes pixels from the canvas. You can choose between Pencil, Brush, or Block mode from the Mode drop-down menu in the options bar.

The Paint Bucket Tool (G) fills a selection with a flat color. To use the Paint Bucket Tool, click once in the area that you wish to fill. If the chosen area is not within a selection, the Paint Bucket Tool will fill all similarly-colored pixels within the vicinity of the clicked area.

The Gradient Tool (G) fills a selection with a blend of two or more colors, known as a gradient. You can easily create your own gradient, or use any of the preset gradients available in Photoshop.Display the gradient presets and tools by clicking on the small triangle on the righthand

side of the Gradient Tool. Apply a gradient by setting your desired colors, choosing your gradient style, then clicking and dragging the cursor over the area to be filled.

The Text Tool (T), true to its name, creates text layers. This one’s easy to use-just select the Text Tool, click on the canvas, and start typing! You can also click and drag to create a rectangular text area that will force text to wrap within its boundaries.

You can change the font size, color, and other text properties using the options bar along the top of the window. When the Text Tool is active, you can move the cursor outside of the text area. The cursor will change from the “text insert” cursor to the “move” cursor, and you’ll be able to move the text layer around.

It’s worth noting that when the Text Tool is active, you can’t use keyboard shortcuts to access other tools. This may seem like an obvious thing to point out now, but it won’t always be so apparent-especially when your text mysteriously starts spurting strange characters because you’ve been trying to use the shortcut keys!

To finish using the Text Tool, press Ctrl-Enter (Command-Return on a Mac). You can then resume your regular keyboard shortcutting!

Photoshop For Beginners – Should I Use Levels Or Curves?

Many Photoshop users learn to use the Levels dialog and then never progress to learning how to use the Curves. In this Photoshop article I will give you several reasons why learning to use the Curves will make you more of an expert with Adobe Photoshop.

What is the difference between Levels and Curves?

In digital photography editing, both the Levels and the Curves are used for one of the single most important editing tasks: image tone control. Whenever you have a photograph that has less than perfect contrast, i.e. the contrast is either too low or, conversely, too high, you need to use some form of tone control. Both the Levels and the Curves allow you to alter the black and white end points of the tonal range in the image. Adjusting the end points allows you to change the global or overall contrast of a photograph; the method and affect is the same whichever of the two commands you choose to use.

Both commands also allow you to change the appearance of the intermediate, or grey, tones in-between the black and white end points. However, the important difference between the two commands is that a Levels adjustment proportionally changes all of the tones in the tonal range; whereas the Curves allow you to choose which portion of the tone scale you wish to adjust. The Levels is a linear adjustment but the Curves are a geometric adjustment (in fact, this difference is in the names levels and linear, curves and geometric). This is a massive difference and using Curves rather than Levels will elevate your editing skill to a professional level.

The big question is which should you use?

This is quite straightforward if you consider the following points.

Use Levels when:

You only want to adjust the black or white end points to adjust global contras.
You want to lighten or darken the entire tonal range. This is normal to adjust exposure errors.
You want to maintain the visual relationship of the values of the intermediate tones.

Use Curves when:

You want to subtly adjust the visual relationship of the tone values. For example lighten the lights and darken the shadows. This usually requires an ‘S’ shaped curve adjustment.
You want to adjust only the light tones or only the dark tones.
You want to adjust the tones in only a small section of the overall tonal range.
You want complete control of your tonal editing.

Although learning to use the curves takes a little more practice than Levels, and the fact that anything which looks remotely like maths and geometry scares many people half to death, they are not actually difficult to master. If you play with the Curves dialog for 10-15 minutes you will feel much more comfortable with the process. And don’t forget that if you use the Curves as an adjustment layer you can always change the affect without damaging your original photograph.

Now you can learn all of the skills needed for your photo editing at Zone2Tone and you will also receive a free professional quality video tutorial.

How To Teach Yourself Professional Web Design

If you are serious about embarking on a career in the web field, here are 10 steps to getting you there without having to go to school for many years.  With any book or any class you take, make sure it includes hands-on exercises!

1) Start with a basic Design Fundamentals class
It is a good idea to take a basic class that teaches you the basics of good design theory and how text and image work together.  You can look into any local college that offers vocational courses.  Make sure it’s a class that makes you do homework and design work.

2) Get the Adobe Creative Suite
Get your hands on a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite.  It is not cheap, but it encompasses all the programs you’ll need to know to do the job.

3) Start with Photoshop
Start with Adobe Photoshop and learn everything you can by taking online tutorials, and getting a book at the library or bookstore to practice all the techniques and ways of doing things.  Pay special attention to image manipulation, slicing and saving for the web.

4) Learn Best Web Site Design Practices
Get a book on web design best practices and learn about the aesthetics of good web design.  This means you’ll learn what looks good and why.  It also means you’ll know why certain fonts, colors and layouts are not good for web design.  Always know the rules before you break them. This is your foundation.  Web interface design is a job in itself.

5) HTML and CSS – Learn to code by hand!
You’ll need to know html and CSS in order to truly be able to master the various browsers and how they behave.  There are a lot of good online tutorials that will teach you the basics for free.  Learn everything you can for free.  Then when you’ve got a really good handle of the basics get a book on CSS and become an expert in coding CSS.

6) Dreamweaver
Once you have mastered code, it’s time to teach yourself Dreamweaver.  Then you’ll see Dreamweaver as more of an aide to your coding skills.  With Dreamweaver, you get an ftp tool and you can look at your code and design at the same time and preview the published code.

7) JavaScript
By this time you should start to feel you have a handle on creating a basic decent static website.  To take your skills further, you’ll need to start learning JavaScript (get a book) on at least a basic level.  Once you’ve grasped some basics, you’ll be able to find plenty of open-source code out there you can copy to use on your site.  But before you know the basics, you won’t know how to incorporate copied code or how to troubleshoot it.

8) Flash and Illustrator
Technical Lead has a great Learn Flash program on the web that you can teach yourself from scratch to advanced level everything you need to know about Flash web site design.  Also at this point you should start playing around with Illustrator and learning the basics with a book.

9) PHP, .NET and Java
By now you will want to start learning how the back-end works.  Start with PHP.  The best way to learn PHP is to take a class.  If you feel you are hopeless at this part, don’t worry, with the skills you’ve already acquired to this point, you can make a great living.  But knowing how to incorporate your design and front-end with these languages can be an important skill.

10) Create websites
Start to make practice websites and make yourself a portfolio.  You can make websites for individuals who need one but don’t have any money so you have some good active URLs to show.  Once you have a great portfolio that shows good design and good coding, you are on your way to a great web design job!

Adobe Photoshop is a Required Photography Tool

In the days of film cameras, taking photos was a one time deal. After you took a photo, you are pretty much stuck with the results. You have no way of altering the photo or even improve the way it looks. And, if there are ways and people who can alter photos in any way, it was considered to be a black art and is known to only a few people and available to fewer people.

However, thanks to technology, this is no longer the case. With the development of digital cameras and digital imaging, people are now able to improve the photos they took with just a few clicks of the mouse. And, this is done through an imaging software program, such as Adobe Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular and also one of the best digital imaging software programs available today. This particular software will enable you to edit digital images with almost unlimited possibilities. Whatever you can imagine, you will be able to edit photos with this software in the manner you see fit.

So, what\’s with Adobe Photoshop that it is very popular among a lot of professional and amateur photographers?

Basically, Adobe Photoshop contains all the necessary tools you need in order for you to edit, enhance, and alter photos. For example, if a particular photo you took was too dark and the colors are quite dull, you can enhance the image and make it brighter and the colors more vivid with the use of Adobe Photoshop. You can adjust the brightness, contrast, and color balance and intensity to make the picture you took look as if it was taken in perfect conditions.

Another great thing about Adobe Photoshop is that you can easily edit out the red eye that often ruins any photograph. Adobe Photoshop has a red eye tool that will be able to detect red eye on any picture and eliminate it. And, you will see that the end result will look very natural.

Also, you have to consider the fact that there are times where you will take portrait pictures of someone. It may be a friend or a family member and all of them will have some form of complaint about the portrait picture you take. Some will complain about the zit on their face, some will complain about being too fat or too skinny, some will complain about looking too old, and some will even complain that they look rather pale.

Adobe Photoshop has all the tools you need to resolve the complaints. You can make someone look younger by erasing the wrinkles and age spots, you can make the face look fuller or thinner, you can add color to the cheeks to make pale faces look healthier, and you can even get rid of any unwanted objects in the face, such as pimples, and acne scars. You can even put make up on the face of the subject if you want.

In fact, you can even make fat people look like a supermodel with the tools of Adobe Photoshop.

As you can see, there are quite a lot of possibilities that you can do with Adobe Photoshop. With this software, you will be able to enhance the photos you take with your digital camera. You can even restore old, faded and damaged photos with this software.

Adobe Photoshop Simplifies Editing Your Digital Photos

Photography in the past was considered to be an art. You need to learn all about photography before you can consider yourself as a real professional photographer and you also need to apply the things you learned as well as take really good pictures. In the past, photographers learned about focal length, exposure value, film speed, shutter speeds and other photography stuff. Also, you need to use an old adjustable film camera as well as a light meter in order for you to know what kind of light settings you are in.

Also, in the past, you will need to learn how to develop films in to photos. Some people even converted their basements in to makeshift dark rooms while others just settled for the toilet.

Today, photography is still considered as an art but it\’s really much simpler now. With digital cameras, you will see that photography is now about point, shoot, upload and print. You don’t even need dark rooms anymore as the photos are now stored as digital format which you can readily upload to your computer and print in your printer.

Editing photos today are also much simpler than it was before. Today, all you need is a special software program called Adobe Photoshop. Most professional photographers use Adobe Photoshop to edit and enhance the pictures they take. The great thing about this particular software is the tools available which can help you manipulate photos. For example, if you took a picture in poor lighting condition, you can easily adjust the brightness, contrast, color intensity and other factors and make it look like you took the picture in a perfect environment with the best lighting condition possible.

Adobe Photoshop is also filled with other features that can make your photos look like it was taken by a professional. If you do headshots of your friends or family, then you will be able to make them look much more beautiful. Even if they don’t have any make up on, you will be able to make them look like they wore make up with Adobe Photoshop. You can even remove facial imperfections, such as pimples and scars.

In fact, Adobe Photoshop has tools that will even make someone obese look like a supermodel. Of course, everyone wants to look younger. With Adobe Photoshop, you can make wrinkles and other age marks disappear. This is how powerful Adobe Photoshop is.

The red-eye phenomenon is another problem that many photographers, professional and amateurs alike, are facing. Even with the latest red-eye reduction features of the latest digital cameras, red-eye will still appear in some of the photographs. Adobe Photoshop has red-eye detection tools, which will detect and eliminate the red-eye.

Also, you need to remember that there are quite a lot of photos out there that didn’t stand up to the test of time, especially very old photos. If there are damages, such as tears, water stains, and fading, you will be able to repair these damages on the old photos and make them look as if it was taken and developed yesterday. You will need a scanner for this job.

Adobe Photoshop is also filled with great effects tools that will be able to convert black and white photos in to colored photos and vice versa. As you can see, Adobe Photoshop is indeed a great software program that you should definitely have. With this, you can be sure that every photograph you take will look fantastic.

Designing Visually Appealing Websites for Low Bandwith Audiences

Web design can be fun for highly creative and telented graphics and web designers but what should you do when you have to limit your creativity to allow for decent loading of your site?

In a few third world countries, internet connectivity is still very poor and web sites do not load fast at all! I have found myself developing sites for a number of clients in this region (Nigeria to be precise) and a major factor I had to consider in my designs is speed. A survey found out that the biggest single reason visitors do not stay on a site is that it takes too long to load.

As a result, I have developed some techniques over the years that I employ in developing super fast loading sites without compromising on aesthetics.

1. All jpeg images to be used must be compressed in photoshop or an equivalent software. In Adobe photoshop cs2 you can use the save for web feature and adjust the settings. Care must be taken not to compress images to a noticeable point. When compression has been used excessively, some artefacts begin to be noticeable and that messes up the whole aesthetic idea.

2. Never ever use primary colours. Always mix some gray or black with your colours to generate a cool tone. Since you cannot express too much graphics, you have to make up with your colours and they must be perfect. Also non gradient colours used should be replicated in html and not imported as jpgs.

3. Utilize a lot of straight lines and avoid curves. CSS should be used to draw the lines. The whole idea is to minimise the amount of jpgs you import into your web page. An expample of how to use CSS to draw lines is shown below:

td style=”border-left: 1px solid #88aa4c”.

This gives the left part of the table a 1pixel border. The strong point of CSS lines is that you get very crisp lines and they load very fast. Jpeg lines are usually anti-aliased and look very blurry when exported.

4. Any gradient backgrounds should be brought into html by making a thin slice of the gradient and tiling it as a table background. By using this method, just that one thin slice is loaded and then replicated to cover the rest of the table. Never export a massive area of a gradient. Just a thin slice is good enough.

In conclusion, the whole idea of this process is to make your site as clean and symmetrical as possible and most if not all graphics done in photoshop should be replicated in html to minimise load.
